Breda Jovialis (female)
Female jumping spider. The male has similar colors but narrower abdomen and different leg stance.
All of the images have so far been limited to spiders available on the property at Budgewoi on the Central Coast of New South Wales near Wyong and this female is the only example to be sighted here to date
This female was at the normal size of about 8mm and was wandering about in grass and sand at the base of a eucalypt.
The palyps were being waved very quickly in an ant-like manner and the spider moved in halting bursts in and out of cover.
These spiders are found in a wide range of habitats and surfaces particularly in or near trees
